Random

I heard a radio host the other day describing a visual picture of differences between men and woman using computer programs as an example. Woman operate with multiple window programs open working on many projects at the same time. Men, open one window, focus, finish, close and move on.  Some of the woman's open windows represent unattended emotions that have not completely processed.  Often, we woman, need help to process the open window so it can be closed and sometimes we woman may not even realize that a window is actually open until it affects another window or even slows down the processing in another window.  I find this visual quite interesting and possibly even an "ah ha".

Since the last posting there have been several topics and thoughts that have come to mind, like so many open windows. Usually the thoughts come together into a theme or subject but now the thoughts are random like so many open windows.

The window of forgiveness seems to always be open.  It was a topic of conversation with one of my brothers last night.  I believe forgiveness is a decision and a process.  Forgiveness often is more for the forgiver otherwise the forgiver would hold onto the pain and hurt.  When unforgiveness is held it becomes a barrier or a stumbling block to an abundant life of joy and peace.  Unforgiveness is like a cancer that grows, bitterness, anger and resentment grow from an unforgiving spirit.  Forgiveness is freedom for the forgiver and does not requires the forgiven to be remorseful, repentant or even be asking for forgiveness.  The forgiver extending forgiveness does not necessarily continue the same relationship with the forgiven nor will the forgiver forget what occurred but will not hold it against the forgiven.

The window of temptation is actually a pop up window and additional Power (1 Corinthians 10:13) is needed to close this window.  For me, it's food.  For someone else, it could be critical nature, alcohol, drugs, lust, porn or less obvious ones like adultery, abuse.

Grief is another window that seems to remain open although minimized. It has it's own time table, the time it takes to heal is the time it takes to heal.  Grief and pain enlarge our capacity for compassion and perseverance.  Wounds of the past impact the present and the future.  Painful experiences can be a marvelous gateway to rich fellowship as we bear one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2). People come in and out of our lives at different times for different reasons. Responsibilities change, patterns change, interests change, life changes and we can count on change.

Windows for daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and employee are open and closed, open and closed, open, open, open, closed.....sometimes the windows need to be refreshed.  Overload or dry spells which requires time alone, reflect, refocus and re energize.

How many windows do you have open?
