This morning’s message at church was timely (aren’t they always?). We considered the storms of life and “faithing it” through them. It’s almost 5 years ago that Crystal and Jeremiah began their new life together; heading off to Colorado. It seems like each step has come fairly easy; somewhat amazing although not in the miraculous sense, more like the “that was easy” button. After Jeremiah's MBA graduation from UCCS last week they moved back to the Chicago area with a job transfer for Crystal. God has blessed them with a multitude of provisions: wisdom, education, financial, job/career, buy & sell of their CO home, apartment for new housing, vehicle/transportation, well behaved (small) dog, health, extended family (including 4 sets of grandparents), solid friendships and other talents/gifts. Each step they have taken has been on level ground occurring in a reasonable amount of time.
As parents of adult children, our lesson remains to respect boundaries, be available when they reach out, allow them to experience the bumps that will undoubtedly pop up in their seemingly level path. As we love them, we will encourage, support (however that plays out), and above all pray for them. Just as the 3 friends brought their crippled friend on a mat to Jesus through the roof, we will do whatever is necessary to “bring” them, in prayer, to Him too. We do this and will do this no matter where we all live.
As we “do life” together our “Abba” Father simultaneously teaches them and us. May we be sensitive to hear Him, obedient in action, continually seek His wisdom and empowerment by the Holy Spirit. Thank you Daddy.
Psalm 57:7-11
My heart is confident in You, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing Your praises!...I will wake the dawn with my song. I will thank You, Lord, among all the people. I will sign Your praises among the nations. For Your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May Your glory shine over all the earth.
Psalm 135:6-7
The Lord does whatever pleases Him. Throughout all heaven and earth, and on the seas and in their depths. He causes the clouds to rise over the whole earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from His storehouses.
